Having moved into a new/old house, one of the first things on the agenda was to remove an unsightly stove insert that had been shoehorned into what was a once beautiful old fireplace and restore it to its former grandeur. We contacted the company that originally installed the insert and had it removed only to discover the fireplace did not work. Fires equaled a house full of smoke. After chasing several "possible" causes with a boatload of modifications and money, we called Lindeman to get a second opinion. That was the best thing we could have done. Grant came out and quickly assessed the problem; the ratio of the fireplace opening to the flue was incorrect. The fireplace could not draw properly and probably never did from the time it was built, which is probably why the stove insert was there to begin with. Additionally, he discovered breaches in the flue that were potentially dangerous. He proposed we have the chimney relined with a with a sealed stainless steel liner, insulate the area in-between the new liner and the old flue, remove the remains of the old damper frame, seal the smoke chamber, install an exhaust fan and linesman damper. Lindeman showed up when they said they would, did exactly what they said they were going to do, did it correctly and cleaned up when they were done. As a result, we now have the fireplace restored to its intended state except now it works and we could not be happier as we enjoy it on a cold winter night. Everything about our experience with Lindemann was top drawer. They turned a complete disaster into a great experience with a very happy outcome. These guys are expert, professional craftsmen who care about the customer and the end product. I highly recommend them.
